Takeaways From Combine Press Conferences | Ravens Final Drive

It was a big day here at the combine as we had a chance to hear from Ravens general manager Eric Tocasa and head coach John Harbaugh when they met with the media and as you can probably guess they took a whole bunch of questions about quarterback Lamar Jackson and that long term contract that the two sides are working towards behind the scenes. Now they both made one thing abundantly clear the Ravens want Lamar and Baltimore for the long haul and they are optimistic that they will be able to get a deal done and they are optimistic about getting a deal done. We want Lamar here. We think he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He's certainly one of our best players and we want him back. He's my quarterback. He's my guy.

I love him and as a coach I just I'm looking forward to seeing it get done but it's not easy. You know it's never easy. It's the business part of it. So but I'm really hopeful and excited fervently hopeful and can't wait for it to get done. Now I know there's been some speculation about whether the Ravens would be Lamar if they can't work out a long term deal. What Acosta said today that is something that's not factored into his mind at any point. And then in terms of the franchise tag that is an option.

If the ravers need to use that before the start of the new league year but the cost of said that he has not made a determination as to what level that would be the exclusive or the non exclusive tag. Now Lamar dominated the conversation with both of them today but it wasn't just Lamar. They also talked about the draft prospects in this class and a couple of things that stood out to me. First of all the cornerback group. The Ravens could look to add a cornerback this year especially if Marcus Peers ends up leaving in free agency. Well the Ravens are really high on this cornerback group especially at the top of the draft. They've had a lot of success at drafting early corners.

That could happen again this year and then on the other side of the ball the wide receiver group. The Ravens are diving into the wide receiver class and I expect them to draft somebody at some point and they definitely like this receiver class as well. So they're high on the corners. They're high on the receivers and that's a good thing based on the needs of this team. So those are some of my big takeaways after hearing from Harbaugh and Dekasda today and we're going to continue to break down everything happening here at Indy so stay tuned for more.
