Mission to Ukraine continues efforts 1 year into war

It's been over a year since the war between Russia and Ukraine began. In that time, the local nonprofit Mission to Ukraine has been helping those on the front lines with life-saving resources. We caught up with Executive Director Sieve Boles, who just got back from visiting Ukraine for the first time since the war began. He says right now, the nonprofit has 40 Ukrainian staff members. They are experts in therapy and caregiving for kids with special needs and women facing crisis pregnancy. Boles described what it's like to be in the war-torn country. Heartbreaking.

There's a sense of heaviness. You see school buildings, totally leveled, hospitals that have been damaged, individual homes, apartments, cars on the sides of the roads that have been hit by missiles. Boles says within the last year, they have sent over 110 tons of humanitarian aid into Ukraine. However, they still need Hoosier support and we have ways you can chip in online at wthr.com.
