Biden, Republicans still far apart on raising debt ceiling

Three weeks from tomorrow, the U.S. is scheduled to run out of money to pay its bills on time. Today House Republicans were brief on the negotiations between Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden. The two meeting at the White House yesterday along with other congressional leaders to discuss raising the nation's debt ceiling to avoid defaulting for the first time in history. Let them bear the responsibility. They want to shut it down, let them do it.

We're not budget, and the Speaker has got our support. Speaker McCarthy must commit to taking default off the table and then and we will continue to have a separate conversation with Republicans about the budget. The president and congressional leaders are expected to meet again on Friday.
