Taylor Swift's Eras Tour makes 3-night stop in South Philadelphia



Right now at four o'clock, Taylor Swift fans take over Philadelphia. We are just a few hours away now from the first of three weekend shows and already so called Swifties are making their presence felt all across the city. It is Friday afternoon. I'm Brian Taff and I'm sorry, Williams in for Sarah Bloomquist. I have an idea now of what to wear. The big story on Action News is the start of one of the most anticipated concert events of the year. Taylor Swift fans have been waiting a long time for this weekend.

Chopper 6 right now live over the stadium complex and take a look. Crowds have been building there throughout the day and they're only going to get bigger as the evening goes on somewhere in that crowd right now is Action News reporter Maggie can't joining us now live on the ground with more in the excitement for one of the era's tour kickoff events here tonight. Maggie. I'm not even like a tiny blip. I'm in here in the crowd somewhere guys. There are thousands of Swifties here and for good reason tonight is the first night of her three concerts here in Philadelphia. Many people saying, you know, it's her hometown ish, right? Everyone dressed to the ninth.

This is actually the line for merch hours long yet again. It feels like Christmas Easter. My birthday. Their wildest dreams are becoming a reality in just a few short hours. Taylor Swift will take the stage at Lincoln Financial Field. It's a lifestyle and you just got to be like once you love it, you're in and you're dedicated. Tailgating started early in these lots complete with friendship bracelet making and free hot dogs.

Marine Williams still hoping to snag a ticket. We figured we'd come down, give out some free hot dogs and hope that the good karma comes back around and we're able to find some Swift mania isn't just taking over the sports complex. Restaurants are cashing in on the hype. Bridget boys offering a Taylor inspired lavender haze frozen lemonade at Swifties snap pictures with the mural painted along second in south. Emily Kelly is the artist. So like seeing people stand in front of it is unreal. It's like, wow, this is this is happening.

Taylor's here. People are loving it. Visit Philadelphia says hotels are seeing 90% occupancy pre pandemic levels thanks to all the citywide excitement. All converging this weekend between Taylor coming into town. Mother's Day happening this weekend. Penn graduation. The Sixers excitement.

There's just so many incredible things that are happening. Okay, so maybe you're looking at these crowds and you just don't get it. That's okay. Maybe it's not for you to get, but I will say I talked to fans and the way they describe it. This is their Super Bowl. Think of it that way and then you're understand that thousands and thousands of people ready to see Taylor Swift. We're live at the link.
