Clemson, USC advance in NCAA softball tournament

Welcome back. Here's what's happening in sports for the second consecutive year. Clemson's softball team will host an NCAA regional. The Tigers were selected as the number 16 seed hosting games starting Friday. The team is set to face UNC Greensboro for their opening game of that double elimination regional. Really proud of our team to be able to host our second regional and only our fourth year of existence. That's pretty special and our team has worked extremely hard to get to this to this moment and now the work starts.

You know we have a very challenging regional here and I'm looking forward to hosting this Friday and I hope the fans come out and support us. It ought to be a great atmosphere and a great time. The winner of Clemson's regional will advance to the best of three and NCAA Super Regional. The team is coming off the ACC tournament where they advance to the semifinals for the third time in three years. Also the Gamecocks earning a big spot in the tournament as well. The 23rd all-time bid and eighth under head coach Beverly Smith. South Carolina travels to Florida State for the Tallahassee regional.

The team takes on UCF in the opening round that's going to be on Friday. South Carolina has taken down 11 nationally ranked opponents so far this season.
