Officials in the Sierra concerned over snow weight

of the storm, but it's not that the storm is getting back up. It's not that the storm is getting back up. Across the Sierra and Foothills officials are growing more and more concerned that another big rainstorm on the way could mean more issues case your threes Mike to sell joining us now in Pollock Pines with more on that. Yeah, and you know, I have a good visual to show you what this story is all about. We're live in Pollock Pines will step out of the way and it's the mounds of snow that are pretty much visible. Anywhere in the area. It's the storm that's been coming out of the area and it's the weight of all of this snow on homes throughout this year, now leading to a warning, even as more weight could be coming in the form of rain.

Take a look. This warning is the increasing snow load on rooftops leading to roof collapses already. We reported on multiple different roof collapses in El Dorado County, but the rain is still coming in the area. The residents of South Lake Tahoe have also buckled or collapsed and with heavy rain expected in the coming days, County officials warning that now is the time for residents to start checking for the possible signs of problems. What you should you be looking for? Well, take a look. El Dorado County Fire Protection District says that homes built before 1982 are especially concerning. That's not the case.

The residents say that homes built before the storm are mobile homes right across the street from where we are or homes with flat roofs also face added vulnerability. So what should you look for? Well, residents alerted to look for sagging ceiling tiles or doors and windows that suddenly can no longer open or close or you see cracks or hear the sound of cracking or popping. Those can all be signs that the load the weight of the snow is causing. And so, again, we're looking for a way to keep the snow out. Also coming back out here live. Keep in mind that officials say that this amount of snow is also potentially clogging or blocking vents and chimneys, and that is something that can increase the carbon monoxide monoxide in your home. So you want to make sure events and chimneys are clear.

Because also you do run the risk of a chimney collapsing if the weight gets down. And so, again, we're looking for a way to keep the snow out. And so, again, emergency officials say reach out to the proper roof clearing authorities. Those who are safely trained in order to do this work because they say doing it yourself is a potential safety hazard. And again, they're hoping people do this before the next round of rain comes before because before the snow starts to melt in that rain. At least momentarily that water going to add even more weight to.
