"A Doll's House" revival starring Jessica Chastain opens on Broadway
right now Broadway meets Hollywood in the theater district for what we're told is a glitzy glitzy opening of a legendary play all the red hot carpet the red carpet very very exciting because of that woman there it's a bold new adaptation of dolls house and the star Jessica Chastain and Sam Whatison we know him of course lots of people there live look this is the red carpet tonight it's opening night for the classic adults house and CBS Tuesday of Carlin is covering others Ellen Burston she is a co-president of the actor studio also a an Academy Award winner right and so the carpet is red hot I think it is because Dave Carlin's there that's why yes Dave this is being called much more than just a revival of a classic play it's reimagined retooled and the cast is led by a Hollywood favorite Oscar winner Jessica Chastain returns to Broadway in the revival of Henrik Ibsen's a dolls house the red carpet is star-studded all with the opening night invitation to see Chastain put her stamp on the role of Nora Helmer in this landmark play originally set in 1879 this production gives audiences a modern take as Nora leaves her children and husband played by Ari and Moyad it just feels so rooted in truth and yeah it definitely rings it brings me out I get exhausted she's in some sense ending part of her life as she's starting to soar in another part might be a little constraining and also who are we to know what she does in the next moments of her life Jessica is one of the great actors living being her theme partner every day is exciting and the the opportunity to just look in her eyes and see so much truth and pain and hope the story remains the same about this woman emancipating herself in the world but what's great about this is that in this day and time there's so much more awareness about the power of women and women standing up for themselves it's been more than a decade since Chastain made her Broadway debut and that was another classic play the heiress in the theater district Dave Carlin CBS 2 news a dolls house was extended and will now run through a June 10th.
