It's been quite a journey for Patrick Beverley back to Chicago

Homecomings for a native of Chicago is something that we've seen before with the Bulls. This year will be for a former Marshall High School star who joined the team this week as a free agent. WGN shot this video of Patrick Beverly when he was averaging a state high 37.3 points per game for the Commandos in his senior season. After that his journey in collegiate and professional basketball has been just that, a journey, one that's taken him around the globe. Beverly played two years in Arkansas where he was the SEC's freshman of the year in 2007 and then made the all-SEC second team in 2008 helping the Razorbacks to the tournament. But an academic issue would keep him out of what would have been his junior season so he embarked on an international pro basketball journey with Staps and Ukraine, Greece and Russia.

After being named the Eurocup MVP in 2012, Beverly started his NBA career at the Rockets where he played five seasons and became known for his defensive prowess. He was an all-NBA defensive second team selection in 2014 and made the first team in 2017. Beverly was out at the Clippers for four seasons making an NBA defensive second team in 2020. The Guard played the 2021-2022 season with the Timberwolves and helped them to the playoffs and this past season he was with the Lakers where he started 45 games averaging six points and three rebounds a contest. Beverly was traded by L.A. to the Magic who bought him out allowing him the chance to return home to Chicago.
