Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to speak to police officers in Chicago suburb

Governor Ron DeSantis is said to be heading to our area next week to speak to police and it's drawing some criticism. The Chicago fraternal order of police lodge has been promoting the event in Elmhurst on Monday, which is only open to law enforcement. The local police union president, John Ketten-Zera, tells WGN he's not organizing the event, but was just asked to share the invitation by DeSantis's representatives. The visit adds fuel to the ongoing feud between DeSantis and maybe Pritzker. Today, Pritzker said DeSantis is dangerous and that his agenda has no place in Illinois. Well, he doesn't represent the values of the people of Illinois. In fact, he's the antithesis to that.

He's demonstrated that he's homophobic, that he's got tendencies to promote racism. Governor Pritzker also called on elected officials and candidates for office to condemn DeSantis's policies. Mayoral candidate Paul Vallis did so by calling DeSantis a quote right-wing extremist. Governor DeSantis's office did not respond to our inquiry.
