Buster Murdaugh Testifies in Murder Trial

And right here at 10 o'clock week 5, the trial of Alec Murdoch kipped off with the defense continuing their case today. We heard from Murdoch surviving son Buster about the night his mother and brother were killed. A Buster has never spoken publicly about the murders, but today we heard him describe how his father was acting around that time. He said Alec was distraught the night Maggie and Paul were killed. Fax, Caroline, is Grace Runkels, been in Walterboro since the start of the trial for us and she has more on today's testimony. Buster Murdoch took the stand in defense of his father today, his testimony tying up a lot of those loose ends revealed by the state. The 26 year old testified his family was constantly in contact with each other.

So Buster says all the phone calls made by Alec the night of the murders weren't odd. He also says nothing his dad did that evening was abnormal, like checking on his mom without Maggie or parking in the backyard of his mom's house. After the murders, Buster says he and his dad were together for weeks, barely ever out of each other's sight. And the missing clothes the state pointed to, Buster says, aren't suspicious either. After the murders, he says his dad was living out of multiple places and had clothes at each of them. He also addressed the puddle that the housekeeper found by the shower the day after the murders. Buster says he, his girlfriend and Alec all went back to Moselle to shower early on June 8th.

Buster's testimony also brought us back to a big point of the debate from week two. It was the moment in Alec's second interview with law enforcement. A sled agent testified Alec said, I did him so bad, referring to Paul. Take a listen for yourself. It was just so bad, it didn't so bad. The defenses argued Alec says they did him so bad and today they asked Buster to tell the jury what his dad said. What did your dad say? Said they did them so bad.

Was that the first time you heard him say they did him so bad? No, sir. When was the first time you heard him say they did him so bad? First time I heard him say that was the night that I went down to Moselle, the night of June 7th. Did you say that more than one time? He did. There are several other members of the Murdoch family on the defenses witness list, including his brother John Marvin and his sister Lynn. In Maltaboro, Grace Brunkel, Fox Carolina News.
