As thermal cameras search for survivors, the Turkey-Syria earthquake's death toll nears 25,000



Let us know in Turkey and Syria now approaching 25,000 following Monday's earthquake and people here in DC are gathering to try to show their support here. The American Turkish Association, hosting this visual last night at Lafayette Square, one by one people fighting back tears to share. No matter what their religions were, no matter what their backgrounds were, they lived through this this nightmare together. They are lying under the rubble together. They are fighting together to survive. What's going on just so heartbreaking. There are so many ways to send help here.

First responders from our area are in Turkey this morning actually working to find survivors from this week's devastating earthquake. Members of Virginia Task Force One have been in the country since Wednesday. It's been a whirlwind past few days for the team as they set up base operations and then get to work searching through rubble for survivors. We see a lot of people still on these collapse buildings using whatever tools that they could find knowing that they're given their all to look for their loved ones.

It hits your heart. It gives us the energy and the drive to do our job and continue to help these people find their loved ones. Right now, there's no timeline really on when they'll return. There are just one of two task force from the U. S. Who are deployed and helping in Turkey right now. Mhm.
