White House ending the COVID-19 public health emergency distinction

This week, the White House is set to end the public health emergency tied to COVID-19. With this health emergency coming to an end on Thursday, here are a few changes you should know. The first, how to access testing and treatment for COVID if necessary is changing. Really, the biggest change is that May 12th, we will start the transition to a lot of, like, ability to access tests and vaccines. The treatments will transition back to your regular health care benefits. So just be looking for information and checking with your health insurer going forward. The state's COVID-19 exposure notification app, WANotify, is also scheduled to end Thursday.

That app was launched in November of 2020. Since then, nearly 235,000 people have confirmed a positive test using that app.
