NC General Assembly overrides governor's abortion veto



Just into the wavy newsroom, the North Carolina House has followed the state Senate and voted to override Governor Roy Cooper's veto of legislation banning nearly all abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy after more than an hour of debate, the Senate passed the override with a 30 to 20 vote. The House vote was 72 to 48. Governor Cooper vetoed the bill over the weekend. Previously, the state banned abortions after 20 weeks. The new law is set to take effect July 1st.
