FDA panel unanimously vote in favor of over-the-counter birth control pill

Over the count of birth control pills are already available in more than 100 countries, but not here in the U.S. However, a vote today by a panel of federal advisors is moving one over the counter option a step closer to reality. If approved by the Food and Drug Administration, only one pill, the O-Pill, would be the only one allowed to be sold without a prescription. The O-Pill has been prescribed by doctors since the 1970s. The FDA is expected to make a final decision within the next three months.
