Allen mall shooting: Victims being remembered by family, friends

And as we learn more about the suspect's background, we don't want to lose sight of who was lost. And that's why we continue to show you their faces. Eight people were killed in this attack, three of them children. Now their families are forced to begin planning their funerals. We are constantly learning more about the victims. Coming into this evening, we couldn't put a face to the eighth person. But family members now say this is Elio Cumana-Rivas, a 32-year-old man from Venezuela who was living in Dallas.

We're Sydney Persing. Murals, flowers. They don't bring people back. Little Janet Trevizo is learning the hard way. We have been friends since like pre-k or twig garden. Janet's fourth grade classmate, her friend, Daniela Mendoza, was shot to death here Saturday. I miss her so much.

Daniela's sister, Sophia, a second grader, dead too. She was in the mall and then that guy shot. Christian Lacour tried to save people from that guy. The Allen Police Chief revealed Tuesday the on-duty 20-year-old security guard died a hero. And we also must acknowledge the bravery of Allied Security Guard Christian Lacour, who evacuated one individual to safety and was shot while courageously remaining to help others. Also killed, we now know Elio Cumana-Rivas. His brother told WFAA, my special little brother, the best thing that God could give us was the fifth of six siblings only 32 years old.

He went in search of the American dream to help his family. He always smiled. He always lived with a positive word. They died because they go to the mall and then someone shot them. Little Elijah did not know the victims, but came to this Memorial Tuesday to learn about them. They learned about the Chos, the young parents, Q and Cindy, killed buying their six-year-old new clothes. Their three-year-old son, James, shot dead too.

James loved elephants, the color green. They're going to go to heaven, where it's nice and safe. Elijah also learned about Aishwari Takikanda, a courageous woman with a big smile. She was an engineer. She was not supposed to kill people because they wanted to come to the mall. Such little children with such powerful perspectives. And speaking of young kids, we know the Chos' older son, six-year-old William, survived the shooting here tonight.

William remains in the hospital.
