ACM Awards 2023: What to know ahead of the show
The star in Frisco has already been transformed. Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks are taking over North Texas to host the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards. As you know, this is one of the biggest nights in country music and a really big deal for Frisco. Sean Gigi live at the star with more. Okay, Sean, you've been getting a behind the scenes look all week. You were with Dolly yesterday. You started talking about a big deal.
I thought you were talking about me, but no, I guess Dolly Parton, Country Music Stars, maybe a little bit bigger of a deal than I am. But you know, if there ever was someone to cover a country music awards show, I'm probably not your guy. I've lived in Texas for 11 years now, and to this day, I have still never owned a cowboy hat or cowboy boots. But I did grow up in the country raising hogs. So there's probably a lot more country in me than all you city slickers there in the studio in Dallas. But as you did say, Kara, the ACMs, the Academy of Country Music Awards is gonna be right here at the star in Frisco tonight at seven. It's first time since 2015.
It's been here in Texas. It's gonna be hosted by Country Music Legends, Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton. Now this is Dolly Parton's third time hosting the ACMs, the second year in a row for her. But tonight, it's gonna be a little different. We talked to Dolly a couple of days ago. As you said, Kara, we got the chance to talk to her. She said tonight she's gonna be debuting a song from her upcoming rock and roll album, which will come out in November.
She's even been selling some rock and roll souvenirs and memorabilia at a Dolly Parton pop-up shop located just down the street from the star here in Frisco. And this is the second time, as I said, the ACMs have been held in North Texas. First since 2015 when they were AT&T stadium, which at the time set a world record for the biggest crowd ever at an awards show. So clearly everything's bigger in Texas, but is everything better in Texas? What do you say, Dolly? I've always loved working in Texas because you're just so rowdy and so fun loving and you like to show people that you appreciate what they're doing. So that always makes an artist feel great. So I've always loved when we play Texas. And here's another fun fact that I personally just thought of.
There's gonna be some history made here tonight because as you Cowboys fans know, this will be the first time ever in the history of the star that someone inside this building will get the feeling of winning a trophy. Never happened before in this building. Nobody knows what it's like to win a trophy here, right? I love the shame. Mark is gonna be here tonight speaking to the stars. Yeah, well, hey, Sean Giggie, you get a participation trophy. Maybe that'll be your first as well. Oh.
