Parts of Twitter source code leaked online

Parts of Twitter's source code have been leaked online. That's according to court filings first reported by the New York Times. The source code is the software that powers the company's online presence. Bits of it were reportedly posted on GitHub. That's a Microsoft-owned platform for sharing code for software development. The excerpts were shared by a user called free speech enthusiast. GitHub says it took down the relevant posts on Friday at Twitter's request.

The social network has now asked the court to order GitHub to produce identifying information for free speech enthusiast. GitHub didn't respond when asked by Reuters whether it had complied or how long the code had been publicly available. It's all just the latest headache for Twitter following its takeover by Tesla billionaire Elon Musk. Weekend reports by the information say he has now put a valuation of around $20 billion on the company. That's less than half the $44 billion he paid to acquire it only a few months ago.
