Norfolk State women get ready for top-seed South Carolina

In the Norfolk State women will play in its first NCAA tournament game on Friday when the 16th Seated Spartans traveled to Columbia to take on the number one seated South Carolina Gamecocks. Coached by legendary Don Staley, South Carolina undefeated this season, the defending national champions. Dating back to last year, South Carolina has won 38 games in a row. Yeah, 38, the Gamecocks top player, Aliyah Boston, who today was named first team All-American for the third time in her career. Simply put, this is one of the best college teams. Women's basketball has ever seen an extremely tough draw for Coach Larry Vickers and the Spartans who are in the NCAA tournament the first time in 21 years. Once it popped up, it was like, OK, you want to challenge yourself against the best.

We're looking to get national exposure. There's no better exposure than playing the number one team in the country. They look like a pretty good team, but every team has their default. So we're just looking to just play our game, come in, leave everything we have on the court, and just play our game. That's it. It's more us than them. I don't think that anything's impossible is March Madness.

That's what we're here for. Me and my team, as a girl, are out there and play hard. And if we happen to be one of the history-making teams, then we ain't got nothing but excitement. Honestly, it's an honor to play against them. Not a lot of teams can say they played against them. Or just having Don Stanley scout them the next few days. Anything can happen is March.

March Madness. Anything can happen. Anything's possible, especially when you don't give up. The Spartans against South Carolina, Friday at 2 o'clock. That's in Columbia, South Carolina.
