Early voting numbers ahead of Chicago municipal runoff elections
You know here in Chicago we're just nine days away from the runoff election and thousands of people have made up their minds about who they want as the next mayor of Chicago. More than 68,000 people have voted early. More than 62,000 of those ballots were cast in person and the other 6100 Chicagoans voted by mail. While early voting continues both candidates are keeping really busy trying to sway the undecided voters and in a public forum yesterday Brandon Johnson and Paul Valles laid out their plans to increase equity and wealth in communities of color. My platform is clearly centered around not only closing the gap between graduation and job opportunities we have to create opportunities for those economic drivers a lot earlier before you even get to high school. I'm a strong advocate for universal work study I've already told all 24 of the unions that are endorsing me that they're gonna have to create work study opportunities for both our high school students as well as our city college students as well as for returning citizens. The forum was hosted by the one Chicago for all alliance at UIC.
