Drone strike kills US contractor in Syria; US retaliates

at least half a dozen people were also injured in that strike. We've yet to hear from President Biden this morning, but Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered those air strikes. Now those air strikes are a retaliation to the drone strike that killed an American contractor and wounded six others yesterday. It happened in northeast Syria, but the Pentagon believes the drone used is linked to Iran's revolutionary guard. Those U.S. ordered air strikes are targeting that group's bases in the eastern part of Syria.

Now Secretary Austin is backing the action to retaliate, saying as President Biden has made clear, we will take all necessary measures to defend our people and will always respond at a time and place of our choosing. No group will strike our troops with impunity. Now Austin is offering his thoughts and thoughts to the friends and family that contractor killed who has yet to be publicly identified.
