Derek Carr to join Saints
News begins with breaking news. Good Monday afternoon and thanks for joining us on the I witness news at noon. I'm Mike McDaniel breaking Saints News today after a rough season. The team has signed a new and much needed quarterback. Brooke Kerchhofer is here to discuss what former Raiders QB Derek Carr joining the team really means Brooke a lot of folks talking about this one today. Yeah, hey Mike after pursuing Derek Carr heavily over the last few weeks the Saints land the quarterback signing car to a reported four year deal conversations between Carr and the New Orleans Saints front office ramped up last week in Indianapolis during the NFL combine and Sunday night our Saints analyst Nick Underhill believed New Orleans felt confident about where things stood with Carr and now they get their guys Derek Carr signs with the Saints. It was also important for the Saints to make this move before free agency because of where they sit with the salary cap NFL teams have until next week to get under the cap before free agency officially opens and the Saints still have a ton of decisions to make with a handful of players becoming free agents at key positions.
Now Carr will reunite with the Saints head coach Dennis Allen when Allen was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders back in 2014 the Raiders drafted Carr that year. He went on to spend nine seasons with the organization now just after the report came out Derek Carr tweeted this video of Tyron Matthew taking the field to lead the who that chant last season with the caption who that I know Saints fans went wild when they saw that one to which Tyron Matthew retweeted with the caption let's go other Saints players have also responded to the news Michael Thomas tweeted thank you Jesus with the praying hands obviously Saints players happy with this move that will hopefully provide some stability at a position that hasn't been there since Drew Brees was under center we will have much more on the car signing tonight in sports at five here from our St. Analyst Nuck Underhill about the signing and how the Saints will move forward now back to you Mike all right.
