12 hospitalized during day 1 of Ultra Music Festival in Miami

Fans flocking to Miami for the return of the Ultra Music Festival. Local leaders working to control those crowds, trying to keep everybody safe. Dozens of FHP troopers have also already been deployed to help curb any chaos that might happen from spring break as well. Yeah, and you know we have local tent Trent Kelly. He's been live in Miami all weekend, all day long, all morning long with just talking about how busy things are there Trent. I know that in just a few hours people are going to start flooding Biscayne Boulevard. Yeah, that's right.

You know, you got the Miami open going on in Miami Gardens, spring break on South Beach. And of course, the Big Ultra Music Festival happening right here in downtown Miami. The biggest draw by far, expected to be Ultra. We saw thousands of people flooding Bayfront Park last night. They're expected to return again in just a few hours for day number two. And that going on as the crackdown on South Beach continues this time with FHP getting involved. Bayfront Park packed with tens of thousands of partiers as the beats dropped again for Ultra.

We're from the West Coast. Everyone's from everywhere else, like it's so cool. But within that crowd were several police officers, some in uniform, others under cover, all in search of misbehavior. Also standing by Miami firefighters and paramedics. We're going to have 100 firefighters per day servicing the concert, whether it be on foot patrol or bike patrol. Last year alone, paramedics at Ultra made about 16 hospital transports per day. This year on night one, they evaluated some two dozen people on site with 12 being taken to the hospital, all expected to be okay.

Meantime, just a few miles away, it was a show of force in South Beach. Troopers there checking IDs and trunks in an effort to keep the peace. The new DUI checkpoint near Fith and Ocean operated by the Florida Highway Patrol. At least one man put in handcuffs Friday night as officials attempted to curb any additional spring break chaos. The deadly violence starting last week when a man was shot and killed along Ocean Drive on St. Patrick's Day. Then another man also shot to death more than 24 hours later.

So far, no word of any major incidents happening overnight. And we should tell you that liquor store curfew also still in effect in South Beach, meaning those stores will have to close yet again tonight at 6pm. Meantime, you're looking live at one of the roadblocks out here along Biscayne Boulevard. Police already stopping traffic as they get prepared for day number two of Ultra. I don't know if you can hear, but we got a guy blasting Madonna over here. So already the party is getting started early. I did check the schedule just a short time ago.

You got some of the first acts here taking the stage in Bayfront Park at noon. So Andrew Alex, you got a couple of hours to get those glow sticks ready and get on down here. I'll see you then. Back to you guys. We're going to go, what do they say? We're going to go rally. Rave? Rave. We're showing our age here, Trent.

We have no idea. Rave, rally. All right, Trent. Thank you.
