Video: Next Storm Brings Snow By Tuesday in New Hampshire

Thanks for watching. I'm meteorologist Jacqueline Thomas heading through this weekend. Of course we had some light snow at times, flurries and light snow showers, a few slick spots on roadways this weekend. But it's as we head into the new week that we're tracking another chance for more snow. And this time around we're talking the potential for a few to several inches of snow in parts of the state. The timing looking like late Monday night for arrival lasting through Tuesday and it is going to bring messy travel. So plan on some impacts for your commute on Tuesday.

We have a winter storm watch that has been issued that goes into effect late Monday night into the day on Tuesday right through the day on Tuesday because of the potential for some higher snowfall accumulation in these areas. And of course the concerns with those travel conditions, satellite and radar, though through this evening, quieting down. We had seen some light snow showers and flurries out there at times today and into the evening hours, but that will continue to taper off tonight. There could still be a slick spot or two as we head through the night tonight and any melting in spots that we saw today or any wet surfaces will likely freeze back over as temperatures drop tonight as well. So just be cautious for that too. But otherwise all eyes are on this next system. So as far as travel impacts go tonight, low impacts and then during the day on Monday, not really expecting any impacts at all because the day itself remains dry.

It's late Monday night that the snow moves in. So if you're traveling late at night Monday, be prepared for roads to quickly become slick and then Tuesday. Just expect messy travel if you're heading out and about on Tuesday really at any point. So through the night tonight, we get back into a little bit of clearing in spots. Lows will be chilly in the single digits and teens for most and then tomorrow temperatures right back into the thirties for highs will start with some sunshine initially to before those clouds thicken up ahead of this storm. So future cast. Here's the timing Monday the day staying dry, the clouds thicken up and it's after the evening commute Monday that we see the snow arrive.

So good news. Even if you're traveling six, seven, eight o'clock tomorrow evening, you should be okay. It's more likely by the time 10 11 o'clock at night rolls around that we start to see snow moving into southwestern parts of the state and it'll continue to spread its way north and eastward as we head overnight. So by the Tuesday morning commute, say six, seven, eight o'clock, there will be snow showers coming down across the area and it continues through the mid morning hours. So if you're traveling, taking a lunch break Tuesday heading out and about during the day, you'll likely still be encountering snow showers and some slick travel conditions. And that also continues through the rest of the afternoon before tapering off Tuesday evening and winding down. There could be a lingering flurry or light snow shower Tuesday night, especially across the mountains.

But by Wednesday, we dry out and see a break in the action before another potential system moves in. So what are we talking about for totals? Well, the trend over the weekend had been to see some weaker energy with this system, which would mean lesser total. So here's what we're looking at for now. Keep in mind that this system is still way off to our west. It has a long way to go before it actually gets here. It's gonna be moving very rapidly in order to get here tomorrow night and Tuesday. But generally two to four inches as you head from the coast up through Manchester towards Concord and then across parts of the Manadnok region, you had through the lakes region, certainly parts of the now Washington Valley and the higher terrain or talking four to eight inches of snow possible.

So you can see those darker purples indicating where some of the higher snowfall totals may fall. And those areas to generally lie within that winter storm watch as well. So something to keep in mind. But either way, it is going to provide some messy travel conditions. So in the seven day forecast as we head through the early part of the week, we're watching this storm system and then we get that break Wednesday before another storm on Thursday. But this time around, notice the temperatures. We could be back in the forties for southern parts of the state.

And that could mean more of a chance for some rain to mix in this time as we head towards the second part of our week. So lots to keep our eyes on in the coming days.
