Tropical cyclone Freddy rips through Madagascar

At least four people are dead in Madagascar, according to officials after tropical cyclone Freddie swept through on Wednesday. Freddie made landfall in southeastern Madagascar late on Tuesday. Its arrival brought flooding and gusts up to 110 miles per hour, ripping roofs off homes. More than 11,000 people are displaced and thousands of homes have been flooded or destroyed. The storm comes nearly a month after storm Chinesso tore through the island nation, killing 33 people. Freddie could reappear in the Mozambique Channel next, strengthening before making landfall in Mozambique, then potentially moving on to Zimbabwe. The world food program said the storm could affect more than 3.

3 million people in total.
