Surprises at 54th NAACP Image Awards

Well, there were some surprises at tonight's 54th annual NAACP Image Award ceremony. Star of the hit CBS show The Equalizer, Queen Latifa hosted the show, which honors excellence in film, TV, music and sports by people of color. Power couple Gabrielle Union Wade and Dwayne Wade received the President's Award. Tennis legend Serena Williams was honored with the Jackie Robinson Award. I haven't held up a trophy in a long time. I would also like to thank the NAACP which continues to accelerate change within important areas such as health care, education, sports, the economy and so, so, so much more. WNBA star Brittany Griner and her wife, Shirelle, made a surprise appearance at the ceremony.

Griner made a powerful call to fight for Americans imprisoned overseas after her release from a Russian prison.
