San Diegans flock to snow-covered mountains during winter storm

Sean mentioned that we had quite a bit of rain as well. I mean snow up in the mountains as well. So let's go ahead and see how many people out there travel to the East County to enjoy at CBS 8's Ariana Cohen. She also headed out there to see the white winter landscape for herself. We saw people preparing to go up to Mount Laguna where chains are required, but we found a fun alternative instead of putting on those pesky chains. How was that? That was good. That was amazing.

Children and those young at heart are enjoying the snow. It's a winter wonderland atop Mount Laguna. Snow chains are required to get up there, meaning some people stop short. Well, we don't have chains. We just moved back here and we saw that they were required, so we decided to just hang out on the side of the road and enjoy the outside. And others made the move to chain up. The first time we are using it, so let's see what will happen.

I think it's difficult to put. If you don't want to worry about putting on snow chains or don't have any, relax and chill out in Pine Valley where there's plenty of white stuff and chains are not required. We don't have a snow chain right now, but that's the only thing that is stopping us because we saw the sign that says we need snow chains. Other than that, I think this is good enough for us. These people came all the way out from Yuma, Arizona to enjoy a picnic in the snow at Pine Valley County Park. It's fun. It's beautiful.

It's just awesome to see this in San Diego. It's only 45 minutes from our house. Chasing the kids, that's it. It's exhausting. This is the first time in the snow they're having a blast. Truly enjoying the best of both worlds in Southern California. It's crazy that we get all this, right? You live in La Jolla.

Exactly. I'm happy to hear that. My dad's going to hit the beach now while we go back home. Remember if you don't have snow chains, you don't have to go all the way up the mountain. There's plenty of snow right here in Pine Valley. Reporting from Pine Valley, I'm Ariana Cohen for CBS 8. You can go to the beach in the morning and the snow in the afternoon.

It's perfect. All right, to keep up with the latest forecast and weather alerts while you're on the go, follow the CBS 8 app from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
