NTSB releases initial findings in toxic train derailment | FOX 13 Seattle



for the first time we are learning what may have led to a train coming off the tracks in east Palestine Ohio the national transportation safety board releasing its initial findings in the report says the train's axle was heating up as the train got closer to the crash site the train didn't reach the threshold for triggering the alarm until right before the derailment upon passing the third detector with a temperature of 253 degrees above ambient a critical audible alarm message sounded instructing the crew to slow and stop the train to inspect the hot axle transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg visited the site of the derailment yesterday and the transportation secretary demanding more accountability from Norfolk Southern CEO recovery efforts continue as the NTSB now prepares for a hearing to learn more about the incident.
