Honda Classic returns to PGA National

Honda Classic returns to PGA National

It is a big week at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens as the Honda Classic returns. So excited for this. And it's not just golf that's on the planner this week. Our sports director and co-anchor Shane Wright joins us from the course. And Shane, there's a lot going on this week to be excited about. Oh yeah, it's a busy week at the beginning of a very busy week here. And walked in, saw the greens.

The greens look beautiful. The stands look great, especially at the Bear Trap, which is bigger this year. We'll talk more about that later on. And this is all leading up to round one on Thursday. It's going to be here before you know it. But until then, a lot of different events here happening at PGA National until the first round of the Classic. Starting with the Pro-Am, which was today.

It's actually the first of two Pro-Am's this week, given amateurs and incredible opportunity to teed up with some of the game's top golfers on a championship course. Set to wrap up at 5.30 in just over an hour. And it's actually played on the actual tour event formats. Part of what's happening this week on the course. But there's, as you mentioned, so much more for golf fans and families. We're really proud of the build that we have out there.

There's so many different ways to experience the Honda Classic. And if you're a golf fan, you've got front row views all the way around that back nine of the course. If you're there for the social side, we've got that as well. And of course, we really want to bring out the families. Kids 15 and under are free. Kids and family day on Saturday, the fireworks that we have out here. We want to see the next generation of golf fans coming out and enjoying the Honda Classic.

All right, so let's take a look at the list of events this week. As we talked about today, the Pro-Am Tuesday, the first practice round. Wednesday is the Honda Cares Classic Pro-Am or the Honda Classic Cares Pro-Am. Thursday, round one. Friday, round two. Thursday, rounds three and four. That is Saturday and Sunday.

So that's when the real golf gets going. Coming up later on at five o'clock, we're going to talk about some of the things that are different this year, what you can expect. And at six, we're going to talk about the sponsorship. As we know, this year is the last year that Honda will be the sponsor of 42 great years. We're going to talk about what's the newest thing that we know about the new sponsor. That's coming up at six o'clock, but we got a lot to get to before then. Toss it back to you for now.

Yeah, it's hard to think about this tournament without the Honda in the middle of the lake. So it's going to be an all new tournament next year. But for the time being, we'll enjoy this year's last Honda Classic. Yes, definitely. We look forward to hearing more from you coming up. Shane, thank you so much. We'll come back.
