Austin Energy apologizes for prolonged power outages | KVUE



For those of you still without power, my heart goes out to you. And I'm sorry for how long this is taking. Austin Energy apologizing for prolonged outages. It's been one week since the start of the ice storm, and today, Austin Energy is hoping to have a more clear timeline on when power will return for all customers. I'm Dara Nisha Herron, and this is KVU News at 5.30. During today's 3 o'clock press conference, Austin Energy said by tonight, they expect to know when power will be restored for a bulk of the outages, but not all.

And for some, it's going on a week without power. As of right now, Austin Energy outage map shows over 34,000 customers are still without power right now. That's down from the 68,000 reported this time yesterday. During today's press conference, the provider said this map is about 90% to 95% accurate. Prudence electric has over 3,000 customers without power.
