Former Coloradan Impacted by Hollywood Strike

Summary:

The script of an action movie is usually filled with a classic storyline because pieces of them are sometimes relatable to reality. It's like, do you want to be on the side of the evil overlord who wants to turn everybody into robots or do you want to be on the side of working human beings trying to make a living? Justin Leib's life right now can be ripped out of a movie. It's the plot of countless films, and I'm sure that an AI bot could probably write itself into oblivion. Leib was raised in Boulder and is a production designer and set decorator for Hollywood. She's been doing it for a while. At least she was. So normally I would be very busy, but I haven't really worked since the end of age.

Motion pictures have been paused

The unions, for many of the actors and writers of Hollywood, have been on strike for weeks. Leib isn't part of those, but she's with a union for the behind-the-scenes workers. Her union is not on strike, but supports the ones that are. Their fight is our fight. But this fight has created another, a financial one. I'm starting to get really worried that we're not going to be able to weather it.

Leib's story is like many others in the industry

. One she says is not heard enough. With the lack of work because of the strike, income is not what it once was. I think that we'll make a fifth this year of what we made last year. Leib's union is trying to help. Last week they held a food drive for those in the industry, trying to make ends meet. A story told countless times in this country.

Leib just wants to see it have a happy ending

. These issues are touching every aspect of working life and working families in this country at the moment and in Colorado. Jalissa Irizari reporting. Leib says while she waits for this to all play out, she is taking some side jobs like staging for realtors or picking up a commercial at the same time still supporting the unions on strike.

The Hollywood strike continues to impact the lives of behind-the-scenes workers like Justin Leib, who find themselves struggling due to the lack of work and reduced income. As the industry remains at a standstill, the hope for a resolution and a happy ending to this chapter grows stronger among the workers affected.
