NASCAR races wrap up Sunday at Kansas Speedway with thrilling end to Advent Health 400

The weekend of NASCAR races at the Kansas Speedway has officially come to a close. It ended with 36 drivers facing off in the Advent Health 400. Denny Hamlin was the driver who came out on top today. K&B's United Patent Headly was at the Speedway today talking with fans. NASCAR fans from all over the country made their way to the Kansas Speedway today. Through the heat, they sat through 267 laps of action. For some it was their first time here, but for others this track has already become their home.

Since 2001, thousands and thousands of fans have made their way to the Kansas Speedway to watch and feel the rush of the race. You call me a gear head. Horse power, I love horse power. Every single one, Dennis Rhoads and his wife Linda have watched from spot 131 in the infield. That's always on the calendar and that's what we do. For 22 years, they've had a front row seat to all the action. When they drop the first green flag and all of that horse power comes by in a group.

The noise and the vibration will make the hair stand up on my arms. As much as they love the race, it's the people they meet that make the trip worth it. Race is just a reason to be here. Yeah, we enjoy the race, but I could probably come up here and camp for three days and not even see a race car and be fine. We come on Thursday. We don't go home till Monday. It's like a vacation.

Sort of. They plan to keep taking this trip and feeling that rush for years to come. It's been a lot of fun. As many times as they've been here, they've actually never watched a race from the stands. They say the infield is the best place to be. At the Kansas Speedway, Peyton Headley, KMBC 9 News.
