Escaped Prisoners in Philadelphia: 1 of 2 inmates back in custody | LiveNOW from FOX

Live now look there in Philadelphia. We have some major breaking news we want to bring to you of a story that we have been following really all week. Take a look at this. This is what we are learning right now that one of those two inmates right there who escaped from a Philadelphia prison last week and was taken into custody by federal authorities. The 24 year old Nasser Grant was arrested by US Marshals tonight in the city's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood. That's according to sources in 2 Fox 29 Philadelphia. So this is what we know.

Prisons commissioner Blanche Carney told reporters that the duo remember missed three head counts before prison guards realized they were missing on Monday afternoon. Grant and 18 year old Amin Hearst sprung themselves free from the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center around 8 30 p.m. on Sunday night. So sources told Fox 29 Philadelphia that holding cell doors and a door to an outside recreation yard were left open. The prison guard union claims that perimeter posts that's been left unmaned for months due to budget cuts may have violated both Hearst and Grant's escape while the city said it quote categorically denies those claims. So it seems like there is some type of competing claims there with the union that represents some of these prison workers and the city of Philadelphia itself.

So the hole that Hearst and Grant used to escape was cut with an unknown tool and the fence that was compromised was not equipped with an alarm that would have notified prison guards about a possible escape. So remember they were spending time in some type of recreational area there on the prison grounds and they escaped late Sunday night under that fence. Well now we know one of them 24 year old Nasser Grant is now back in custody. He was arrested by U.S. Marshals Thursday night. OK so this is what we know about Grant and why he was in the correctional facility in the first place.

He was incarcerated on weapon and drug charges. He's remember his partner in this Hearst is still on the loose. He has a violent rap sheet that includes four murders in three shootings between both December 2020 and March of 2021. So there you can see Hearst there on the run still like I said a very violent rap sheet. He was implicated and convicted in four murders in three shootings in about a year and a half time span. All right so just to round out this story I want to put up this tweet here as well because we also got this in a little bit later earlier rather I should say this morning. This from Fox 29 Philadelphia reporter and anchor Steve Keely saying that is the newest booking photo of Yanni or Johnny rather stalling.

She's 21 years old now held on charges or aiding in the escape of the two Philadelphia prison inmates. So this is what we know days after the escape Philly PD announced the arrest of a 21 year old there Johnny stalling. Investigators say a recorded jail phone call from one of the men helped investigators make the connection to stalling. So the DA in Philly Larry Krasner said stalling has been charged with criminal conspiracy hindering apprehension escape and use of a communication facility. Krasner's office requesting that she be held on $2 million bail but a Philly judge today set her bail at half a million dollars. So now remember the Philadelphia police department and the U.S.

Marshals are now offering a combined $25,000 reward for any information that will lead to bring the outstanding inmate who still is on the lamb Amin Hearst back into custody. So $25,000 there. That's the reward to bring him back into custody. This is really remember said Philadelphia on edge. We've been talking to our Fox 29 Philadelphia reporters on the scene in the run up to this. But we now know one of those inmates back in custody. And now we know like I said, yet another figure in this another individual in custody for helping aid and a bet this escape that 21 year old female there.
