Trump could be sued by DOJ over his role in Jan. 6

The Justice Department is urging an appeals court to reject former President Donald Trump's claims of immunity in lawsuits over the Capitol riot. Right now, the court is considering several civil lawsuits against the former president for his role leading up to the attack. The lawsuits were brought by members of Congress and Capitol police officers. The Justice Department argues that a president can't be absolutely immune for speech on matters of public concern if the speech incites violence. The DOJ is citing the speech President Trump gave right before the attack.
