Taiwan Loses Ally as Honduras Sides With China

Of course, there are also diplomatic tensions to watch as well. We've seen Honduras taking the start of Beijing and as a consequence, Taiwan really losing an ally that has been with it for decades. Well, Taiwan now has just 13 allies that recognize it as a country with formal diplomatic relations. Most of those are around the Caribbean. This has been an ongoing process ever since President Tsai Ing-wen took over in Taiwan. Beijing has been actively luring these allies away from Taiwan, getting them to change their recognition to Beijing. Honduras, the latest of those, over the weekend signing a formal agreement to start ambassadorial relations with the People's Republic of China and to recognize Taiwan as a part of Chinese territory.

We have to imagine that will continue as long as tensions remain. The Beijing will continue to try to lure more and more of these allies to its side.
