Many prominent Twitter accounts could lose blue checkmarks in April

So Elon Musk and Twitter are added again. Get this one. Verified legacy badges. We knew this was coming. Approved prior to Musk's purchase of the company will go away on April 1. Yep, no more blue check. The company said in a tweet, users can keep their blue check mark by signing up for Twitter.

Blue, which of course costs you money. It's about $8 a month. And get this one. Twitter will also start charging businesses and organizations $1,000 a month to be verified. OK, this is the question. We were talking about this earlier. So here's the issue.

Anybody could take any name, right? So if you are, for instance, Jennifer Aniston, right? And you don't have a blue check mark, I could be Jennifer Aniston one. And how do you know it's not me? I could put up her pictures. I could put up any information about her. How do you just to determine who's the right person? Well, for $8, you can be the Jennifer Aniston one. But I keep, yeah. This is just going to cause create chaos for companies and organizations, sheriff's departments. I don't even know if government officials, are they going to get to keep their blue check mark? Do they get a different color of check mark? This is a problem.

They took mine away when I switched my handle. I have no interest in getting it back. And I really hope that on April 1st, there is just a big pushback and nobody goes out and buys these. Because what's going to happen is the only people that are going to have them are the poser want to be instigated. Trying to pose as. Well, and people, it is concerning because if you want to get information from a police department, from a journalist, or from a news source, somebody could be posing as a news organization. And then you could be getting false information that's really important to safety or health.

That's the security that somebody will put out something under a blue. Say, we're verified. This is the XYZ police. And there's an alert in your area. Please do this. How do you know whether to follow that or not? So people are just going to have to not get any news or information from Twitter, except maybe correspond with friends that they think are their friends. Because maybe they have a blue check.

Right. And there's also, there is a built in safety out here. Because it's happening on April 1st, which is also April Fool's Day. So this doesn't go well. You could say, oh, it was a joke. It was an April Fool's joke. Yeah, but they have to figure that out pretty quickly.

Yeah.
