Students help raise money for school janitor who had to unretire due to rent hike
An 80-year-old school janitor in Cook County may be able to return to retirement thanks to some generous friends and neighbors. Students in the Cowlesburg ISD, it's about 75 miles north of Fort Worth, launched an online fundraiser for the man they call Mr. James. He came out of retirement in January, came to work at Cowlesburg High School in order to help make ends meet because his rent had gone up. Well the campaign really caught on just now more than $30,000 has been raised in two days. People love him, people in the district say that he's a hard worker and this is well deserved. He doesn't want any part of the spotlight, he's very appreciative of what these students have done.
It's insane. Crazy. I mean starting this renew and being in a small town like Cowlesburg that people would want to help and people would want to support us, especially with something like this. And they are doing it. The students actually say. Awesome. How long does that last though with the inflation continuing and I hope it lasts a little longer.
I'm sure that he's a very humble person and is not going to go out and go crazy and is so thankful. Again doesn't even want the spotlight. The students say that their original goal was $10,000 but the donations just really kept pouring in as more community members and parents found out and more people started sharing this. Keep it rolling. Thank you.
