McConnell distances GOP from proposed Medicare, Social Security cuts

Some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security sunset. I'm not saying it's a majority. Let me give you anybody who doubts it. Contact my office. I'll give you a copy. I'll give you a copy of the proposal. And now Republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is responding to this moment at the state's president's State of the Union address this week.

President Biden's controversial comment based on Florida Republican Rick Scott's plan to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block every five years. But on WHOHS Radio, in an interview with Terry Miners, Senator Mitch McConnell made an important clarification in that interview, distancing himself and other Republicans from that plan. So it's clearly the Rick Scott plan. It is not the Republican plan. So security and Medicare are not to be touched and I've said the same. And I think we're in a more authoritative position to state what the position of the party is than any single senator. McConnell went on to say it was quote, just a bad idea.

As Rick Scott's reelection in Florida, Mitch McConnell says this plan could make his campaign difficult, especially with the amount of retirement age people living in Florida.
