Chicago mayoral candidates make last-minute push on eve of Election Day

It really is going to be if you can believe this polls open less than 24 hours and so many eyes will be in the hotly contested mayoral race here in Chicago. It's the final countdown. Tomorrow is election day here in Chicago. With nine candidates in the race for mayor, as the heavy rain came down, we caught up with a few of them this morning trying to garner those last minute votes. Candidate Jesus Chiuigarcia up early, shaking hands with morning commuters on the CTA on the north side. We are pretty fired up and feel quite confident that we will be in a runoff at the end of the day tomorrow and then go on to round two. Mayoral candidate Jamal Green hit the Roosevelt train station to get morning commuters and undecided voters to pick him.

We're going to shock the world tomorrow and show them that people who usually aren't engaged, they can't be polled, are going to turn out and say something different. Candidate Alderman Sophia King shook hands, greeted commuters and handed out flyers, reminding voters to pick her in this critical election. Still a lot of undecided voters in a race of nine people. I think that's good for us. My competitors have been up on TV, spending millions of dollars, and if people are still undecided, that means they're still looking for a candidate. This election is already reporting impressive numbers. According to election officials, over 109,000 early vote ballots have been cast so far in Chicago and over 102,000 vote-by-mail ballots have been cast surpassing the 2015 and 2019 elections.

Those election numbers showing voters age 65 to 74 years old account for over 23 percent of early voters versus 18 to 24 year olds who make up around 2 percent. Already seeing those incredible numbers. In addition to asking for votes, candidates also stressing voter turnout and plan to continue campaigning through tomorrow.
