Authorities Find Dismembered Remains of Hong Kong Model

Officials in China are investigating a grisly murder involving a young model and now several of her own family members are under arrest. Police did not initially name the victim, but the South China Morning Post identified her as Abby Choi. Choi was reported missing February 21. By February 25, police were recovering her body parts from an apartment in a Hong Kong suburb about 30 minutes from mainland China. Police arrested her ex-husband, his parents, and his brother. Investigators believe the 28-year-old woman had financial disputes involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars with her ex-husband and his family. Authorities found two women's legs in the fridge, her ID card, credit cards, and other items in a house Choi's ex-father-in-law rented just a few weeks ago.

They also found several tools including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves and masks, suggesting the murder was quote, meticulously arranged. Cops believe the gruesome murder was partly connected to Choi's plans to sell property in an upscale neighborhood she'd purchased, but placed in her former father-in-law's name to save taxes. Her husband's family reportedly lived on the property. Authorities believe Choi's former brother-in-law offered her a ride to pick her daughter up from school, but instead knocked her out in that vehicle and drove her to the home where she would be butchered. Human tissue was found in pots of soup. Initially, investigators could not find her head, but they later discovered it in a soup pot as well, covered under radishes and carrots. They found a hole in Choi's head behind her right ear.

Investigators believe it was caused by a hard object. Her torso and hands are still missing. Investigators fear they were thrown away. Choi's ex allegedly was planning to flee by boat when he was arrested. Investigators say they're still looking into her exact cause of death while that investigation continues. Choi reportedly leaves behind four children, two sons ages 10 and 3, and two daughters ages 8 and 6 who will be placed in her ma-.
