A Haunting in Venice: A Review

Mystery, Murder, and Horror

The Agatha Christie murder mystery who-done-it movie, A Haunting in Venice, is finally coming to theaters. The movie marks Kenneth Brown's third portrayal of the fictional Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. Brown also directed the film and assembled an all-star cast, including Tina Fey and Michelle Yeo. I was fortunate enough to watch the movie, and I am here to give you my review.

A Spooky Thriller Perfect for Halloween

Sandy Kenyon, a witness entertainment reporter, believes that the movie is a good fit for Halloween. He explains how the movie takes place in a palazzo that holds voices, whispers, and sobbing. Detective Poirot is asked to investigate by a famous writer. Poirot, played by Kenneth Branagh, believes that there is a logical explanation for everything and does not believe in the supernatural. However, he is suspicious of a psychic played by Michelle Yeo. Her seance leaves him questioning what is real and what is not. As an audience member, you can't help but feel the same way.

Modern Twist and Relevance

According to Marae Lee, who has over a quarter of a million followers on TikTok along with her sister Elodie, the movie is perfect for Halloween season. She praised the movie for its modern twist and relevance to the younger generation. Kenneth Branagh's direction has elevated the murder mystery genre by adding supernatural elements that kept her interested and on the edge of her seat throughout the film.

Conclusion

A Haunting in Venice is an excellent movie that mixes mystery, murder, and horror, and it will surely make this Halloween season more thrilling. The movie is a great example of how a classic genre can be made modern and relevant for a younger audience while still maintaining its classic elements. So, if you are looking for a good time this Halloween, this movie is definitely worth watching.

A Haunting in Venice is now playing in theaters, distributed by Disney-owned by the same parent company as ABC7.
