Summary:

  • Tropical storm Franklin is moving towards the north and west, potentially becoming the first named storm of the 2023 season and a category two hurricane.
  • Meteorologists are monitoring an area in the Gulf of Mexico with a high chance of tropical development over the next week.
  • Models are uncertain, but both the European and American forecast models suggest the possibility of a low-pressure system in the Gulf or southeastern United States.
  • Even if it doesn't fully develop, the system could lead to tropical depression conditions, warranting attention, particularly in Florida.
  • The 2023 hurricane season has seen nine storms and one hurricane so far, with the potential for the tenth named storm in this recent development.

From News 19, I'm your here is the one name storm Franklin has winds of 60 m to 70. It is moving toro at six miles per hour. An going to take a little bit the north and west and av northeast, possibly becoming the first named storm of the 2023 season and might become a category two hurricane.

In the central Atlantic and Atlantic low chance for tropical development was Emily, something a lot of meteorologists at home that we're going to pay attention to is this area moving looks like towards and or the western part of the Gulf of Mexico gives us a high chance of over the next seven days towards the north and may move into parts of the coast. So this will be something to pay attention to, especially for any kind of interest in Florida. Models are showing that this area that's a little bit too early to say exactly what it may or may not be, but this could be something to watch. It does develop it into some type of tropical system. The GFS is a little bit on the weaker side with a pressure system here, but a lot of rainfall and it's something that we'll have to watch as it moves north and east as well. So models are kind of in line developing it in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Again, we kind of see that split between the European forecast model and the American forecast model. Some type of low pressure system is likely in the Gulf of Mexico or possibly moving into the southeast United States next work week.

Something to keep in mind is what to know about this is, even if it doesn't develop into a full-fledged tropical storm, we will call it tropical depression. And that's something that we could see forming at some point, maybe over the weekend, a high chance of development. If you're in Florida, you should watch this closely. So far we've had nine storms, on average at this point in the season, and only one hurricane. There's also been one unnamed storm. This would be the tenth named storm of the 2023 season, to keep track of the tropics and possible tropical development.
