A night of clear skies and rock and roll brought out a big crowd to downtown Wilkesbury for a late summer bash. A legendary band performed tonight on Public Square in a concert the city put on for free. 2822's Gianna Gali joins us live in the studio with more about the Big Event.

Thousands of people crowded Public Square to see legendary Canadian band, The Guess Who, perform. I even made sure to show up in my 70's style with bright orange and flowy pants.

Many feel this kind of entertainment is what the city has been needing for years. Bell Bottoms, Tideye and one legendary band filled downtown Wilkesbury. The Guess Who performed songs from their new album as well as their classic hits of the 60's and 70's. The last time D'Arvene Cardwell of Harvey's Lake went to a concert in Wilkesbury on the square was in 1976. We're not in the backwoods anymore. We got people wanting to come here. The rock and roll trio Dustin Douglas and the electric gentleman opened the event on the square.

Then, at 7.30, what thousands had been waiting for all day. The Guess Who's on the spot. Gary Peterson has been with The Guess Who since the band formed in 1965. It looks bare rocks and I love this town. Pizza from Gerardos, potato pancakes and other tasty bites circled the square to satisfy all the concert cravings. Mayor George Brown along with event organizers created one rock and opportunity this community is grateful for.

And after seeing a legendary band perform here on Saturday, people hope the square looks a lot like this next summer. That's what we need in Wilkesbury. Cliving it up again, you know what I mean? Like I said so far, he's doing a great job and I can't wait to see what he has up to sleep for next summer. The Guess Who is best known internationally for its 1970 album American Woman. It's released a new album this summer called Plend anymore in the studio. 28-22 News.
