Valleyfair opens for the season, new chaperone policy in place

Assigned that summer is on the way. Valley Fair opened for the season today with some big changes this year. Charmaine Neero joins us with what you can expect the next time you head to the park. Well, Morgan, the rain definitely didn't stop people from coming out to Valley Fair today. Honestly, with the winter we had this year, people were ready to get outside and enjoy the park. The park hosts 75 attractions, including a roller coaster, a 15 acre water park and rides for kids. And this year, there are new food and drink options, entertainment and events.

But there's one thing that's a little different this year. That's the chaperone policy for kids and teens. So essentially what that is is after four o'clock, kids that are 15 and under just need to have a parent somewhere in the park, a parent or somebody over 21 as a chaperone. And they don't necessarily have to go on the rides with the kids. They just need to be reachable via phone. Now it's important to note this policy goes for anytime after 4 p.m.

, anytime before kids and teens are allowed in the park with just their peers. But this chaperone policy isn't the only thing that's new this year. A new water park is coming to Valley Fair with a grand opening set for Memorial Day weekend. Morgan, back to you.
