Modi Loses India Swing State of Karnataka

Melaka, I want to just talk about a weekend which has seen elections really in lots of places including India and a rare victory for the opposition there in that key state election. Now the thing is, is it a one off? Well, impossible to answer that one, Rish. But it is an important one, I can point out The Congress that's rather gone these party won one hundred and thirty five of two hundred and twenty four seats in the state of Karnataka. That's the state that's home to Bengaluru India's Silicon Valley is more people outside India know it as and it is an important state in terms of size in terms of contribution to GDP and that is a very sweeping victory. The Congress party won twice as many seats as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party does for these party. That's the BJP. Now this is the state that Raul Gandhi traveled through when he was doing his cross country rally for unification of India.

This is the state where the BJP also put it, a great amount of effort ahead of the elections where we had Prime Minister Modi turn up for several rallies including several of his key cabinet members. So this is an important class but we have eight more state elections to go this year, Rish.
