Doc Rivers Fired: LiveNOW Reaction

in the philadelphia as they are parting ways with the dock rivers the head coach after that game at seven blowout to the boston cell text uh. just a couple nights ago we want to bring in eight p a writer friend of the program cori long thank you so much for joining us here online now from fox certainly uh. some maybe not so surprising news kind of surprising news but in the nb a it's a short tether there is they're getting a few coaches that maybe i didn't think would go are now fired what we make of this latest news that dock rivers no longer with the philadelphia seventy six years anything about it you had eight teams in the conference semi finals obviously for the one in advance two of the four teams that lost fire their coaches with phoenix fire montee williams and now the six years firing dock rivers what what it leaves is you have some you have two very good coaches that have tremendous records out there on the market will be interesting to see where they land and who these these organizations bring in and they think can do better that what you know what you know williams case the phoenix son's were two games away from one of the title two years ago you know dot rivers is one uh. some around sixty six percent of his games in philadelphia uh. you can look at the first round up like the whole is a with with the box for one title a couple years ago and have the best record league this year he gets fired is one of the seventy percent of his games with the walkie so the question is we bring it's better yeah that's what i say because you have to be a little very good opportunities like you said the box the suns the raptors the pistons and now the seventy six years and the seventy six years might not even be the best spot for any coach to come into because you got and be who are clearly feels like he wants some help you have harden who potentially may not be there what we make of and be done hardens comments after game seven because they said hey it's a five on five game and they need some help in uh. as an mvp common those words come out of your mouth is is must be hard to take as well it's a five on five game but there are two guys on the team that are making about seventy seven million dollars a combined salary because they're paid to perform in those situations either one of them did what they were supposed to do in game seven i mean you can win a game or you can lose a game but when your top guys don't show up you're not winning them you're not going to win the basketball game and but you know what this also shows and he is that it's a star league this is the thing that is driven by the players and regardless of how good coaches record is how good you know how you know what that would be a good if the if the star guys decide we don't want to hear he's gone but there's no there's no room for uh. you know there's no room for negotiation this this is a star-driven league you need stars to win if the star decide he doesn't want to coach the coaches dog yeah and what what are the odds that harden remains a philadelphia seventy six are because he is an absolute start putting up forty in one of the playoff games there against the boston celtics but he is more robin it to a batman in an nba franchise he won't be maybe option number one for franchise but he's gonna demand a pretty high salary where the odds he remains in philadelphia maybe where else could he land you know still playing at a high level and if he's not an option one he's an option one point five so you he has a player option to stand uh.

and philadelphia i think would pay around thirty five million uh. he can they can go back to the negotiating table they can sign to an extension there's a general belief that james hards dis you know his his situation with doc is what caused this move in the six years are obviously very invested in keeping him in the organization he's got you know he's got a lot of support there in the front office so you know that's gonna be that so you know he was going to win age power struggle with doc rivers so obviously the six years are interested in keeping him long term we'll see if that happens i think that's gonna happen i think this move almost guarantees that happens alright that is that certainly will hold you to it but uh. you mentioned the six years the box who won a title don is not going anywhere there in milwaukee the suns who just added kevin dorant also have devin booker the raptors and also the pistons potentially depending on what happens later on tonight what is the most intriguing job there in the nba that's open currently uh. i think it's a phoenix job because you just you know they've they just brought in kevin doran there's gonna be sometimes it gets chemistry you're at the back end of chris paul's career so there's uh. there's a definite you know they're all three of those jobs the six years the box the suns are way now but the suns especially are way now and they're going to have a very hard conference where you've got you still got the lakers you've got you'll get you could have been a three-time mvp this year the nuggets point at a high level you've got teams that didn't make the point of the Dallas mavericks who have lucan kairi i look at the recent kairi urbans so it's a it's a star-studded conference but you know phoenix is the there they've got brand new ownership that's gonna you know he's gonna give everything that he's gonna put together all the resources so it's the best job and you know for me it's just kind of figuring out where these puzzle pieces fit who's gonna be part who's gonna have a job at the start of next year and who's not you know who's gonna end up probably on tv until the job breaks in breaks in four uh. that is a very good point a lot of those kind of taking a year hiatus before jumping right back in in the sun certainly a lot of pieces they traded away mckel bridges cam johnson to uh. get kevin diranto certainly a lot of pieces on the bench there for the sons.
