18 years after Natalee Holloway's disappearance, Peru extradites key suspect to US

The main suspect in the disappearance of Natalie Holloway will now be extradited to Alabama. He will stand trial there on charges of extortion and fraud. These charges come from an alleged incident in 2010, five years after Natalie Holloway disappeared. Holloway's mother says Jordan Vander Sloot contacted her from Peru and offered to sell her information on the whereabouts of Natalie's body for $250,000. Holloway's attorney says she paid him $25,000. He then told the attorney where Natalie's remains could be found, but nothing was ever uncovered. Without a body, a murder prosecution wasn't possible.

It may never be possible, but this is still a form of justice for Natalie Holloway. An attorney for Vander Sloot tells the Associated Press they will fight extradition. In a statement, Natalie's mother wrote in part, quote, the persistence of many is going to pay off. Together, we are finally getting justice for Natalie.
