Starting Women's History Month with a tribute to actress and activist Sally Field

Time now for Kristen's kudos and today begins women's history month. So each show Ellen and I will honor some special women making waves in their industry. And today we start with actress Sally Field who is fresh off receiving the 2023 SAG Lifetime Achievement Award for over six decades of contributions to not only the entertainment business but to the community as well. Field's iconic roles include her first as Gidget and then flying none shall be in steel magnolias. Mom to Tom Hanks is for Scump and so many more of course. But in real life, Fields is an outspoken equality activist for women's rights and the LGBTQ community. She has received the National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honors.

And I just love her so much. She's aged beautifully too. She's stunning. Like the series of photos. Yes. In her acceptance speech we mentioned she won the SAG Award on Sunday night. She talked about how she doesn't pick roles to hide behind them.

She's not trying to pretend to be someone else escape from her life. She said this quote acting to me has always been about finding those few precious moments when I feel totally utterly sometimes dangerously alive. I love the SAG speeches. If you've listened to any of them, it happened Sunday night because they're speaking to other actors. So you really see more of an insight behind their love of what they do in the industry, why they pick roles and more about the business than you do maybe Oscars night or one of the other awards. And I know Oscars is the pinnacle, but to be awarded by your peers. Exactly.

That's amazing. Have a great day everybody. We'll see you tomorrow.
