Some Chicago suburbs see over half a foot of snow

Hey Trellentown, you good morning and happy Friday. Will the snow continues to fall here in Lake Forest and it has been falling all night as crews work hard to clear those roads ahead of the morning commute. What we're seeing this morning is that thick heavy slush on a lot of these roadways which could be particularly challenging or even dangerous to drive in. It's slippery, I mean, you know, low visibility probably only about a quarter mile. Just go slow. Now, new video overnight shows crews in other areas like Gurney and Libertyville working while you were sleeping to clean up some of those messy roads before the morning commutes. You can see several inches of snow falling in those roads as the precip accumulates on trees and cars forcing some drivers to clean off their vehicles.

The snow caught some drivers by surprise. At least one car spun out in Lindenhurst 17 miles northwest of where we are this morning. Now get this the superintendent of the North Chicago Public Works Department says the city has saved money on salt this year and is actually only used half of their salt supply back here live in Lake Forest. We're keeping a close eye on those roadways and on those plows as they clean them up to make sure you have a safe drive to work or school this morning. Watch breaking news on YouTube.
