Greta Thunberg Detained at Turbine Protest
Climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained by police in Norway. Protesters gathered outside Norway's Ministry of Finance to demand the removal of 151 wind turbines that were built on the reindeer pastures of indigenous lands. While the group supports the move to green energy, they say it should not come at the expense of human rights. Authorities say the protesters were ordered to remove themselves from the doorway area, but did not comply. Instead, they were physically carried away one by one. Two police officers picked Thunberg up and moved her away from the government-building door beyond a cordoned-off area. Thunberg, who is Swedish, says she will continue to protest and be in solidarity with the Norwegian indigenous community.
