Gordon Moore, Bay Area native and co-founder of Intel, dies at 94
Gordon Moore, who co-founded Intel, has died at the age of 94. Like the company, he has strong Bay Area roots. Moore was born in San Francisco and grew up in Pescadero, got his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. He helped launch Intel in 1968 in Mountain View under the name NM Electronics. It was renamed and the headquarters later moved to Santa Clara. Intel would go on to become one of the leading microchip producers and dominate the personal computer market. Thank you.
